  • Do you offer backpacking 101 services?
    YES! We are happy to offer a basic backpacking 101 with you prior to your hike. If you would rather a Stove's 101 or Filtration 101 please let us know. ONE of our 101 services are free of charge if you have already purchased an overnight experience with us. If you would like to attend a 101 service but are not interested in an overnight experience (or would like to attend all 3) please purchase one of the basic training packages for $45.00. This includes a 30 minute zoom call, packing list customized to where you are traveling, and links to discounted gear you may need on your trip. Each separate 101 class is its own package.
  • Anyone can go on a hike, why should I choose a guiding service?
    You are absolutely correct! Anyone can choose to hike on their own but choosing a guiding service allows you the freedom to enjoy the hike without worrying about the route, logistics, safety equipment and having someone with you that is knowledgeable on safety measures, exit routes in case of emergencies, provides emergency shuttle services, learns the local fauna and edible plants, etc. Choosing a guiding service should be a fun experience, we hope you choose Wild Routes, LLC!
  • What if I don't know what to bring?
    Depending on our route, we will email you a list of gear to bring prior to your hike. You may choose what brand and style that fits your needs. We do not allow metal cannisters over 12oz on our trips (ex. Stanley, Yeti, Hydroflask).
  • Is Wild Routes, VA Licensed and Insured?
    Yes! We have coverage through the whole state of Virginia, taking our adventures to every corner you can imagine it the state!
  • What if a hike I want to do with you is not listed?
    Wild Routes, LLC travels throughout the whole state of Virginia. Each experience has been carefully curated with specific routes in mind for a fun and challenging experience. If you do not see a trail system listed that you would like us to visit with you, as long as your hike is located in Virginia, we are happy to customize your experience! Feel free to reach out to us at wildroutesva@gmail.com so that we can get started on your personalized guided hike!
  • How do I sign up for a guided hike?
    You can choose to: 1. Purchase a guided hike under an event already created on our website or facebook 2. Email us at wildroutesva@gmail.com to create a custom experience for you, your family, a team building exercise or other.
  • Can I submit mileage as a team instead of hiking, running or biking solo?
    Sure! If you would like to submit your mileage as a team instead of a solo person and each person hikes a portion of your cities Spring or Fall 50 Challenge - we will absolutely accept this. Keep in mind only 1 patch is included per challenge purchase. If you would like to purchase more patches you would need to purchase more challenges i.e.: If 3 people are participating on a team and each want a patch, three of the same challenge would need to be purchased but only one set of miles would need to be submitted with each of the participants names listed on that set of mileage.
  • What if I do not complete the challenge?
    If you do not submit your mileage, we will not know when to mail you your patch. Please submit your mileage to receive your patch from Wild Routes, LLC.
  • How do I participate in a Wild Routes 50 mile Patch Challenge?
    1. Choose your cities 50 mile Patch Challenge for the season you prefer (we are currently offering FXBG Fall and Spring 50) 2. Receive your mileage log and local hiking areas check list from Wild Routes via email. 3. Log your miles after hiking, running or biking in your towns local trail system 4. Submit your completed miles to wildroutesva@gmail.com 5. Receive your patch in the mail within a few weeks of submitting your mileage!
  • What organization does my patch purchase go towards?
    Wild Routes, LLC. is a small for-profit company that gives back with every purchase. If your patch challenge is located in Fredericksburg, VA or the surrounding regions - your purchase will donate a portion of its sales to the Fredericksburg Trail Alliance. If your patch challenge was the Virginia Parks 43 State Park Challenge - your purchase will donate a portion of its sales to the Virginia Association for Parks. If your patch challenge was park of the Shenandoah National Park Challenge - your purchase will donate a portion of its sales to the Shenandoah National Park Trust
